Finished Object - Swallowtail Shawl

posted Fri, 09/15/06
Swallowtail shawl
Pattern: Swallowtail Shawl from Fall 2006 Interweave Knits
Finished dimensions: 22 x 48 inches
Yarn: Misti Alpaca Lace, baby blue, less than 1 skein.  Purchased from Newbury Yarns, Boston.
Needles: Addi Turbos size 4
Modifications: This pattern was such fun!  The only change I made was to replace the purl 5 together (which is nearly impossible to do without sharper needles) with a slip 3, knit 2 together, pass 3 over.
Started: 8/26/06
Finished: 9/14/06

 modeling the shawl
I really need to find the remote to the digital camera. There is only so much you can do at arm's length!

Points on swallowtail shawl
This has been one of the most rewarding projects I have done in quite a while.  I had to rip back a few times as I figured out how the bobbles were supposed to work, and I am so glad that I did.  Aside from one misplaced stitch, this shawl is perfect, and I LOVE it.  This was my first lace knitting project, and I would recommend it for anyone feeling the urge to knit lace.  The commitment isn't huge, and the yarn is inexpensive with lots of color choices.  Such fun!

You go with your bad-ass shawl-knitting, blog-reformatting self! It all looks so great!
