High Desert Knitters Webring

posted Thu, 08/31/00

This is the home for the High Desert Knitters webring. Welcome to our merry band of knitters!  I am no longer living in Albuquerque, but I will try to keep this webring going for the time being.

Here are my rules, such as they are. These may change as I see fit.

1) You must be a resident of one of the following states: New Mexico, Utah, Nevada...and hell, if you are in Arizona I guess you can join too.  You know you are a High Desert Knitter when:

You need to wear 30 SPF sunscreen year round regardless of whether it is 100 degrees or 15 degrees.

If I say "chile" and you ask, "Red or Green?" you can join.

You get the supersize moisterizers at Costco and have to restock several times a year.

You can out drink your friends when they visit because of the altitude.

Tortillas go with any meal.

2) You must write a blog that is primarily about knitting and/or spinning.  And crocheters are welcome as well - you guys have a tough enough time as it is.  If you talk about pets, politics, city life, etc, that is fine, but fiber content is critical here.

3)The ring code MUST be visible in your gutter on your main blog page. Not hidden away in a corner where no one can find it.  You would think that this would be obvious, but I have seen it.

Please save the button to your own server, thankyouverymuch!

I will try to be as timely as possible okay-ing (??) your blogs for the ring....but if time has elapsed and you haven't heard from me... email me a friendly reminder, k?

Hello fearless leader- I thought I'd contribute my (too young to get the!)Claw resource- my pain comes in the outside of my wrist, too- pinky-side, and is exascerbated by the vibration of my ageing tires, as felt when white-knuckling the steering wheel, rubbing my forearm against the edge of the desk as I manipulate the mouse, and laceweight. For the latter, I think it's just a desire to get a good grip on a tiny yarn, and curling my pinky into a teeny knot in an effort to tension something I can barely feel. Our friendly massage therapists might have some good suggestions on how to stretch and protect such an odd part of the body. But good luck-don't hurt yourself!

Those are cute rules for a group. You might want to include Colorado also. Up on the front range, people would past your test. Colorado Springs is at 6100 feet. Denver at 5280 and Boulder is up a bit from Colorado Springs.

I no longer live in Colorado, but I still remember what it's like. Have fun.
